Zach the Volunteer

Ever since my first volunteer experience in Singapore (cleaning beach), volunteerism has always been an integral part of my life. Nothing is more life-changing than helping someone who may be less fortunate than us. It’s life-changing for them and it’s life-changing for us. Below is a list of the volunteer activities that I have been or am currently involved with.


Current Volunteer Experience:

Volunteer Translator, TED Conference, June 2009 ~ Present

Senior Coordinator and Columnist, TEDtoChina.com, June 2009 ~ Present

  • Work with TED Chinese translators from all over the world

Past Volunteer Experience:

2008:

  • Provided help to local farms in central New York (part of the Colgate COVE program)
  • Usher at services for mentally impaired people at City Harvest Church, Singapore

2007:

  • Benefit concert with school’s harmonica band, Singapore
  • Month-long program at a local hospice for mentally impaired adults, Singapore

2006:

  • Benefit concert with school’s harmonica band, Singapore

2005:

  • Tutored children at a local home who suffered from family abuse, Singapore
  • Overseas Community Service in Thailand

2004:

  • Beach cleaning at Eest Coast Park, Singapore
