To My Beloved Sister

According to one of my friends’ status update on Facebook, this week is the “Love Your Sister” week. I am sure this is just one of those random Internet things made up by people, but I am still gonna use this as an excuse to give a shout-out to my 10-year-old half-sister, who is one of the most precious people in my life.

Dear Yuanyuan,

Thank you for bringing so much joy to my life in the last ten years. I have always counted myself as the luckiest brother in the entire world. I’m terribly sorry that I have not been able to spend as much time with you as I would’ve liked in the last seven years. But I hope you will understand that everything I am doing now is to make sure that one day you will be able to go around and proudly tell your friends that you have me as your brother. I wish you all the best at school. I love you and I miss you dearly.
